Herbal extract formulas developer Karallief has launched KaraCalm, a clinically studied herbal ingredient to support better sleep and stress management.

This advanced natural supplement is formulated to offer a safe, effective alternative to melatonin.

According to Karallief, the formula demonstrated significant improvements in sleep quality and stress reduction in just 14 days in a study.

A 56-day randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 60 healthy adults showed significant improvements in sleep and stress markers for those taking KaraCalm.

Participants experienced a 39% increase in total sleep time, gaining over two additional hours of sleep.

The time it took to fall asleep was reduced by 70%, from 18 minutes to just five minutes.

There was a 42% decrease in nighttime wakefulness and a 53% reduction in the number of awakenings after initially falling asleep. Additionally, sleep efficiency increased by 10%.

In terms of stress reduction, participants saw a 40% decrease in perceived stress level scores and a 30% reduction in serum cortisol. Stress-related inflammation markers, such as hs-CRP, were lowered by 64%.

Sleep specialist Vrushali Gersappe said: “KaraCalm represents a significant advancement in natural sleep support and stress management.

“Unlike synthetic alternatives, KaraCalm’s unique blend of standardised herbal extracts works with the body’s natural sleep mechanisms, offering a safe, long-term solution for better sleep and stress management.

“KaraCalm showed remarkable results in the clinical studies using objective datapoints like the Actiwatch sleep measurements and blood markers like cortisol and hs-CRP.

“Very few dietary supplements are clinically studied and even the ones that are clinically studied usually only have subjective questionnaire and not objective data. This makes KaraCalm unique.”

Karallief, based in the US, specialises in researching, developing, and distributing new herbal extract formulas to formulators worldwide.

The company serves the dietary supplement, skincare, and food industries. It has over 30 international patents, nine granted and 21 pending.

In a similar development, in August, US-based health and wellness brand Ritual announced its Sleep BioSeries Melatonin supplement had shown positive results.
