US-based digital healthcare company Noom has expanded its services to include Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to enhance menopause care.
The initiative aims to address the significant gaps in menopause treatment, as only three in ten women seeking help receive adequate care.
Noom will focus on supporting women’s health throughout their lives by integrating hormone therapy with its established behaviour change programme.
Noom medical director Karen Mann said: “In recent years, we have witnessed a growing acknowledgement of women’s unique health challenges. However, acknowledgement alone is insufficient.
“We must proactively address these challenges with targeted health solutions that support women through these key life stages. Noom’s holistic approach ensures that women thrive in every aspect of their lives.”
Noom said it has engaged over eight million women aged 40 to 60, many of whom have reported menopause-related symptoms affecting their weight loss efforts.
Menopause can present over thirty symptoms, such as fatigue, mood changes, sleep disturbances, and weight fluctuations, which can affect daily life and relationships.
Considering the complexity of menopause, Noom’s new approach combines FDA-approved and compounded medication options with bioidentical hormones to alleviate symptoms.
The programme includes personalised content, medication tracking, robust calorie and macronutrient tracking, and AI-driven food tracking to help women maintain a healthy weight.
In addition, Noom offers resistance-training workouts and continuous support from coaches and clinicians.
Mann added: “Noom + HRTRx is a science-backed, affordable, and accessible solution designed to support women through menopause with trusted care and proven results.
“Women can feel like themselves again, build a solid foundation for long-term health, and create sustainable habits that work.
“This holistic approach integrates behaviour change, expert care, and hormone therapy to help women find relief from challenging symptoms in order to regain control of their health and weight loss journey and thrive in midlife and beyond.”
With the onset of menopause, fluctuating oestrogen levels can lead to changes in muscle and fat mass, metabolism, and more intense hunger signals, often resulting in weight gain.
The hormonal shifts can also cause mood changes, hot flashes, and sleep disturbances, complicating the transition.
Noom said its expansion into menopause care is a significant milestone in its growth.
It shifts the company’s focus from behaviour change-driven weight management to its ventures into diabetes care and medically assisted weight loss.
Noom CEO Geoff Cook said: “The menopause care gap is real. A generation of clinicians have underprescribed HRT, owing to misleading conclusions related to a now outdated 2002 study.
“Millions of women and their doctors abandoned HRT treatment virtually overnight. Since then, a strong case has been made that HRT is a healthy choice for most women.
“Hormonal changes during menopause can have life-altering effects, impacting longevity, vitality, metabolism, and overall well-being. We believe in making proactive, whole-person care more accessible. That’s why we’re expanding into HRT.”
