US-based fresh-cut fruits and vegetables provider Fresh Del Monte has acquired a majority stake in Uganda-based bulk crude and edible avocado oil supplier Avolio.
The transaction enables Fresh Del Monte to convert avocados into premium avocado oil, supporting its strategy to enhance its presence in the speciality ingredients sector.
It combines Avolio’s advanced extraction technology, capable of processing 140 metric tons of avocados daily, with Fresh Del Monte’s broad supply chain expertise.
The collaboration aims to deliver high-quality, sustainable avocado oil solutions, strengthening Fresh Del Monte’s dedication to sustainability and the circular economy.
The company plans to capitalise on the growth of the avocado oil industry by expanding production capacity and developing new facilities to meet rising global demand.
Fresh Del Monte chairman and CEO Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh said: “Acquiring Avolio is a strategic step aligned with our long-term vision to extract greater value across our supply chain while advancing our commitment to sustainability.

Recently, Fresh Del Monte, through its vegetable division Mann Packing, signed a licensing agreement with The Nunes Company to expand the reach of the Broccolini brand.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nunes will market and sell Broccolini baby broccoli, ensuring an expanded reach and upholding Mann Packing’s brand values.
Introduced by Mann Packing in 1998, Broccolini baby broccoli features tender stalks, delicate florets, and a mild taste.
The licensing agreement is driven by increasing demand for the Broccolini baby broccoli.
