LifeVantage, a health and wellness company focused on cellular health products, has unveiled promising results from an in vitro study evaluating its upcoming two-product system for activating GLP-1 production.

The study, completed from May to June 2024, examined the effects of a new two-product system on boosting production of GLP-1s.

Conducted on L-cells in the colon, the research highlighted the potential benefits for weight management and glucose regulation through enhanced GLP-1 levels.

LifeVantage research and development vice president Lisa Barnes said: “This in vitro study confirms the harmonious nature of our innovative two-product system that approaches GLP-1 activation through both direct activation of L-cells and optimising the gut microbiome in the colon to enhance GLP-1 production.

“With the development of this system, LifeVantage continues to leverage our unique Activation approach, using the latest science and naturally-derived ingredients to help your body make what it needs to be healthy.”

The study utilised enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to measure total GLP-1 production and fluorescent microscopy to observe the results.

LifeVantage’s new two-product system employs a dual approach. It activates L-cells with a blend of eight natural ingredients and improves the gut microbiome with resistant starches and fibres.

Results showed a significant increase in GLP-1 production and enhanced activation of genes involved in its synthesis.

Additionally, there was a notable downregulation of the DPP-4 gene, which helps make more GLP-1 available in the body.

LifeVantage president and CEO Steve Fife said: “LifeVantage remains committed to ensuring our Consultants experience business success with products that are second to none.

“This product will open doors to new consumers and an untapped market, adding to our already industry-leading Consultant opportunity.

“We are excited by the scientific evidence supporting the claims of our new GLP-1 system and we are thrilled to be able to introduce the this system beginning in October.”

In March, the health and wellness company launched its TrueScience Activated Skin Care Collection.
