Belgium-based food ingredients and speciality chemicals company Azelis has acquired Solchem Nature, a nutraceutical solutions provider based in Barcelona, Spain.

Established in 1994, Solchem initially focused on distributing raw materials for the dietary sector and widened its offerings to include premium ingredients and formulations over time.

With a team of 14 individuals, Solchem serves over 250 customers, contributing significantly to Azelis’s lateral value chain and offering new growth opportunities for principals.

The acquisition allows Azelis to leverage Solchem’s expertise and long-standing industry relationships, enhancing product distribution and innovation capabilities.

Principals will benefit from increased product distribution, and customers will enjoy an expanded portfolio of solutions in the nutraceutical sector.

Solchem Nature general manager Jose Manuel González said: “Joining forces with Azelis is not only an exciting growth opportunity for Solchem, but also a natural fit.

“We share a strong innovation-driven culture, rooted in a commitment to excellence towards our principals and customers.

“We look forward to continuing our journey with Azelis to deliver the best solutions to our partners in the nutraceutical market.”

Azelis operates in 65 countries, providing complementary products to more than 62,000 customers, supported by over 2,800 principal relationships, through over 4,300 employees.

The acquisition aligns with Azelis’s strategy to expand its market share in Spain and enhance its EMEA-wide nutraceutical platform.

It strengthens the company’s position in the Spanish nutraceutical market, providing a wide range of innovative and sustainable nutraceutical solutions to European customers.

Azelis Iberia managing director Javier Pérez said: “We are excited to welcome Solchem to the Azelis team. Our combined capabilities significantly strengthen Azelis’s position in the highly attractive nutraceutical market.

“With common values and the same entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit, I’m convinced we will successfully continue to unlock the nutraceutical market’s untapped potential together.”
