Speciality chemical company Evonik has selected Univar Solutions’ subsidiary ChemPoint for the sales, marketing, and exclusive distribution rights of Evonik AvailOm omega-3 powders in the US.

AvailOm is an omega-3 lysine complex made from lysine fermented by microbes, along with sustainably sourced marine fish and algae.

Featuring a 50% concentration of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in their free fatty acid forms, this powdered omega-3 ingredient provides more bioavailability and stability than conventional products.

Omega-3 fatty acids are known for their cardiovascular and cognitive health benefits.

While omega-3 supplements are commonly found in soft gel fish oil capsules, AvailOm’s powdered form addresses several formulation challenges. It offers enhanced oxidation resistance and shelf-life stability, improved flow, and compressibility, and eliminates fish odour reflux.

Additionally, AvailOm powder has more solubility and provides up to five times higher bioavailability compared to traditional omega-3 soft gels.

ChemPoint president Austin Nichols said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Evonik.

“Preventive health and wellness are more relevant than ever. AvailOm’s exceptional delivery of omega-3 nutrients, combined with ChemPoint’s expertise in specialty ingredient adoption, make for a perfect match.”

Under the partnership, ChemPoint will enhance Evonik’s efforts to advance and deliver advanced solutions for the nutritional market using its agility, expertise, and extensive reach.

The partnership aims to boost market penetration, elevate service levels, and improve the overall customer experience for Evonik’s omega-3 fatty acids.

Evonik Health Care Americas head Mohammed Rahman said: “Evonik is excited to expand our partnership with ChemPoint in the United States.

“Their business model and market reach allow us to better meet the quickly shifting needs of today’s market, particularly by leveraging their digital capabilities.”

In July, Univar Solutions signed a sole distribution agreement with Vizor Sun to distribute the latter’s sun care ingredients to European beauty and personal care clients.

The deal followed the firm’s announcement of the opening of a new Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada distribution facility in June.
