FrieslandCampina is looking to expand its location at Needseweg 23 (the Hambroek II industrial site) in Borculo, the Netherlands.
This would require a review of the current zoning plan. The results of this study will determine the final decision, which has not yet been made.
The expansion ties in with FrieslandCampina’s 2020 growth strategy and would involve the construction of a factory for the production of milk powder, which is suitable for use in specific types of high-quality infant nutrition for children and babies aged two years and older.
FrieslandCampina is also preparing for the abolition of the milk quota in 2015. The company is anticipating that this will result in an increase in the volume of milk from the member farmers. The new drying factory would also be able to process this increased milk supply into milk powder in the near future.
Local residents near the FrieslandCampina Domo production plant in Borculo were invited to a special meeting where they were given a detailed account of the proposed plans and the procedures that would be followed.
