The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against purchasing or using Fouzee SugarLin Herbal Formula due to its hidden drug ingredients.

Fouzee SugarLin is a product promoted and sold as a glucose or blood sugar support supplement on various websites and in some retail stores.

The latest advisory comes after the health regulator issued an advisory against two supplement products in November. The FDA advised against using Force Forever and THERMO SHOCK supplements due to the presence of hidden drug ingredients.

FDA analysis has confirmed that Fouzee SugarLin Herbal Formula contains both metformin and glyburide, which are not listed on the product label.

Metformin, an active ingredient in several FDA-approved type 2 diabetes drugs, is also prescription-only.

It poses serious risks to consumers, including side effects called lactic acidosis, a potentially fatal condition if left untreated.

Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, body aches, abdominal pain, and rapid breathing. Furthermore, Metformin can cause hypoglycemia when combined with other blood sugar-lowering medications.

Glyburide, an active ingredient in some FDA-approved type 2 diabetes drugs, is also available only by prescription. It can cause serious, life-threatening risks, including dangerous drops in blood sugar levels (hypoglycaemia).

Symptoms of hypoglycaemia include rapid heartbeat, shaking, sweating, anxiety, dizziness, confusion, headache, and hunger. Severe hypoglycemia can lead to seizures, coma, or death.

FDA has advised healthcare professionals and consumers to report any adverse events or side effects from using this product to its MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.

Reports can be submitted online through the MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Form or via fax.

The health regulator said this notice informs the public about products marketed as dietary supplements or foods that contain hidden drug ingredients and chemicals. These products, often promoted for sexual enhancement, weight loss, or bodybuilding, may be falsely labelled as all-natural.

The agency cannot test all such products for harmful ingredients and consumers are advised to be cautious when purchasing products in these categories, FDA added.
