Leipurin, a subsidiary of Finland-based Aspo Group, has agreed to acquire Kartagena’s food ingredients distribution business in the Baltics region for an undisclosed price.
This agreement allows Leipurin Lithuania to take over key supplier and customer relationships, as well as Kartagena’s food inventory.
The deal will help ensure the continued distribution of food ingredients.
Leipurin expects an annual revenue boost of around €2m and an EBITA increase of €0.15m.
Aspo Group CEO Rolf Jansson said: “The transaction is a successful continuation of Aspo’s compounder strategy in prioritised market segments.”
The deal is expected to be completed in Q1 2025, pending approval from Lithuanian competition authorities.
Leipurin managing director Miska Kuusela said: “This arrangement strengthens Leipurin’s Baltic market position and provides for new growth opportunities in the region.”
Aspo aims to create long-term value by sustainably developing its businesses. Its companies focus on responsible operations, customer relationships, and sustainability.
With businesses in 17 countries, the group employs around 800 professionals.
Leipurin is part of the global food supply chain, sourcing raw materials worldwide and from local suppliers. It delivers these materials efficiently through its logistics network, tailored to customer needs.
Operating in eight countries, the company is organised into three regions, Finland, East, and the Baltic, each of which is responsible for its financial performance.
Leipurin serves the bakery, food industry, and food service sectors with raw materials, research, and recipe support for new products.
Additionally, the firm offers supplies and machinery for these industries. The company partners with international manufacturers of raw materials and machinery.
Additionally, Leipurin expanded its food industry business through Kebelco, a Swed Handling subsidiary. The transaction was completed on July 1, 2024.
In May 2022, Leipurin agreed to acquire the entire share capital of Kobia, a Swedish bakery industry distributor, from the Abdon Group, for an undisclosed price. This acquisition expanded Leipurin’s presence in Northern Europe.
