Singapore-based ingredients solutions provider Olam Food Ingredients (Ofi) has teamed up with Lisco Barbecue Supply Chain (Lisco) to advance barbecue culinary.

Under the collaboration, Ofi will combine its expertise in global ingredient sourcing and network with Lisco’s experience as a specialist in the Chinese barbecue meat market.

The ingredients provider’s portfolio of spices and integrated supply chain will allow the partnership to explore new and innovative combinations of ingredients and spice blends.

Furthermore, the firm’s portfolio will help create barbecue skewers with a feast of flavours, aromas, and colours for all occasions, said Ofi.

Lisco founder Zhang Li said: “For many people, barbecue is more than food – it is the backdrop to social and cultural moments, enjoyed with family, friends and loved ones.

“This collaboration will expand barbecue into new occasions and explore innovative ways to bring people together with good food that tastes great.

“By working with ofi, we will all be encouraged to exchange ideas and integrate global food cultures with the common aim of creating multicultural barbecue flavours and introducing new and exciting spice blends from all over the world, with a hint of nostalgia.”

According to Ofi research, nearly two-thirds (63%) of Chinese consumers enjoy barbecue skewers at least once a week.

The company believes that there is a significant demand for more adventurous flavours, better quality and taste, from deep umami seasonings to fiery Sichuan pepper blends.

Ofi will power the partnership with its new Customer Solutions Centre (CSC) in Shanghai, China, allowing customers to access the company’s global network and insights.

Also, its in-country F&B Solutions experts will help develop solutions with more agility, quickly adapting to emerging trends with a deep understanding of local palates, said Ofi.

Ofi F&B solutions Asia Pacific head Ramki Prasad said: “We know that nearly two-thirds of the market (64%) are open to trying new flavours.

“Ofi is able to respond to the growing demand for vibrant taste experiences that respect the spirit of regional food traditions while promising a consistent, repeatable flavour all year round.

“Through this collaboration with Lisco, CPGs and foodservice retailers across the Asia Pacific can expect succulent meat skewers that blend exciting new seasonings and sauces with innovative and convenient formats.”
