Turing Labs has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform to help food and beverage manufacturers adapt to changing ingredient regulations.

The platform is designed to support compliance with the upcoming US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ban on Red Dye No. 3, announced last month.

It helps companies stay compliant as global regulatory changes evolve.

According to Turing Labs, the platform helps manufacturers proactively reformulate products to meet current and future ingredient regulations. It ensures product quality and consumer acceptance.

This is especially important as companies prepare for the FDA’s Red Dye No. 3 ban, which will take effect in January 2027. The synthetic dye, used in candies, cakes, and some medications, has been linked to cancer in laboratory rats.

The AI-powered platform combines advanced AI algorithms with domain-intelligence on a several ingredients. It helps brands redevelop their products.

The platform speeds up the research and testing process, identifying optimal replacements for Red Dye No. 3 in record time, the AI company claimed.

It also ensures safety and quality by analysing safety profiles, stability, and sensory attributes to meet both consumer preferences and regulatory standards.

With a focus on sustainability, Turing Labs prioritises natural, eco-friendly ingredients, aligning with the rising demand for sustainable products.

Additionally, the platform’s data-driven insights help brands optimise costs, from ingredient sourcing to production adjustments.

Turing Labs founder and CEO Manmit Shrimali said: “Regulatory changes are becoming more frequent and complex, requiring manufacturers to be increasingly agile.

“Our platform significantly reduces the time and resources needed for reformulation while ensuring compliance and product quality across multiple regulatory scenarios.”

Turing Labs said that the FDA’s timeline leaves little room for delay, but the platform gives brands a competitive edge. By acting early, brands can avoid penalties and build consumer trust through regulatory compliance.

Taking a proactive approach also offers a first-mover advantage.

Additionally, responding to the rising demand for safer, natural ingredients will help strengthen consumer loyalty amidst growing health concerns.

Founded by Manmit Shrimali, who raised $19.25m in venture funding, Turing Labs is a specialises in ingredient optimisation and reformulation.
