Supporting vanilla farmers
Prova, a leader in the manufacturing of vanilla, cocoa, caramel, nuts and sweet brown nuts and flavours for the sweet food industry, is supporting vanilla farmers on the ground. Its sustainable vanilla programme VDB (Vanille Durable Bemanevika), is addressing the root causes of the precarious living conditions. Its actions contribute to improving livelihoods by increasing farmer income through better vanilla bean quality, higher yields, increased proportion of cured vanilla sold and diversification into other crops. In addition, it is also investing in the community's life by supporting local initiatives.

More than just actions, Prova seeks long term partnerships based on a shared vision in order to raise awareness on the issue throughout the supply chain. Recently, the French company together with Barry Callebaut launched a 5-year project in joint partnership in Madagascar to empower vanilla farmers by funding and accompanying local communities through social, health and education programs. supporting vanilla farmers by giving them a second and better livelihood. With this project, Vanilla farmers will also receive trainings for cultivating cocoa. Crop diversification will provide a different source of income reducing the dependency of the farmers on the vanilla volatile market.
